What if I told you that on a single mountain in the Quebec City area are the 7 most beautiful Airbnbs to get out of town? And not 75 minutes from Quebec City. No! 30 minutes away! When I show you these 7 architectural wonders located in the heart of the Maelstrom mountain in Lac-Beauport, you will think that a 30-minute drive is more than necessary between now and the next weekend.

Destination: Maelstrom

A mountain of 580 meters altitude with 360 degrees panoramic views can make the Charlevoix mountains blush with jealousy. The Maelstrom is not only a mountain where it is good to rest. It is also a mountain where it is great to move. In partnership with Les Sentiers du Moulin and the provincial snowmobile trail (FCMQ), you can explore the mountain seasonally by mountain bike (among other things with the bike-in bike-out formula), hiking, snowshoeing, fat bike, and snowmobile.

Since we’re talking about seasons, let me tell you how wonderful this mountain looks whatever the weather. In winter, you might think you are in Western Canada Rockies. The air is invigorating. In the spring, it feels like waking up to the rhythm of the buds that are hatching. In summer, the days are bathed in bright light while at night, the Milky Way and its thousands of stars appear on a deep blue canvas. In autumn, colors abound and mingle with the delicious scents of the forest. And what about the sunrises and sunsets that, no matter the season, are majestic, magical, and breathtaking.

So I offer you a nice visit to 7 of the most beautiful eco-houses, tiny-house style, of this incredible mountain. Having each been designed to make you live a unique and unforgettable experience, I will not be surprised that many conquer your heart for a weekend!

The Lagöm

Where it all started. Laury-Jane Mondoux Poirier, co-owner of the Lagöm and manager of the Maelstrom rentals, had a very specific vision for this mountain, a vision that required visibility to create a craze. She will have succeeded with the construction of the Lagöm.

Inspired by the Swedish philosophy of life of the same name, the Lagöm invites simplicity, minimalism, and contemplation. Because at an altitude of 550 meters, you will know for yourself that there is much to contemplate from up there. Of the mountain, the Lagöm has without a doubt the most beautiful view.

You can enjoy it on a majestic 3-level terrace that seems to float above the large trees. Once inside, everything invites calm: the smell of white pine that covers the walls and floors, the clean Scandinavian decor, the abundant windows that invite the beauties of the surrounding nature inside, the little touches left here and there that make us feel “like home”.

From the first rentals, the photos of visitors immortalizing their more than inspiring stay began to go around the web until attracting the attention of blogs, programs, and magazines dealing with travel and decoration. We talked about the Lagöm at TVA (at Salut Bonjour and CASA), Radio-Canada, in Pratico-Practice magazine, on dozens of blogs such as Narcitiy, Curiocity, MTL Blog, MSN travel, and more. This visibility has allowed the Lagöm to establish its reputation and to attract investors wishing to join Laury-Jane’s vision.

Since then, several eco-accommodations have grown on the Maelstrom mountain, becoming a must-see destination for rejuvenating the Quebec City region. We look forward to Laury-Jane’s new baby and her mountain associates, the Hygge, an immersive concept in the forest with a very vivid design. It’s a good bet that we’ll talk about it as much, if not more, than the Lagöm.

The Lao

The original architecture and the resounding success of the Lagöm have obviously made many want to reproduce the winning formula. That’s why the owners of the Lao took inspiration from several distinctive elements of the Lagum in order to reproduce the concept with their own personal touch. What we love about Lao is the view of the Relais ski slopes and the contrast between the different shades of wood and the elements of black hardware that gives the place a rustic-modern look.

Accommodates a maximum of 4 people.

The Cache

The owners of the Cache went there with a surprising concept. With its modern exterior architecture, you might think of continuity of style inside, but no! We open the door and we find ourselves in a completely different universe reminiscent of wooden caches in the forest. Probably from where the inspiration for the name comes from. What we love about the Cache is the intimate and warm atmosphere and the furniture of yesteryear that blends with modern amenities. A charming cocoon that will surely charm you.

Accommodates a maximum of 6 people.

The Panorama

The Panorama is a very suitable name. The view of the beautiful outdoor panorama is equal to that enjoyed inside. The harmonious blend of raw materials combined with modern elements gives the space a successful eclectic style. What we like about the Panorama is the use of landings inside to divide the spaces and the majestic 4-sided fireplace whose view can be enjoyed both inside and out.

Can accommodate up to 4 people.

The Aura

With architecture reminiscent of the tops of the fir trees, the Aura blends perfectly with its environment. Inside, everything has been designed to benefit from the amenities of the house, while being completely elsewhere. What we love about the Aura is the feeling of being in our childhood cabins, reconnecting with the feeling of feeling safe. We also like (a lot) the spa on the outdoor terrace and the quick access to a hiking trail.

Can accommodate up to 6 people.

The Cabin

In addition to being thoughtful, the cabin’s architecture is fun, especially on the second floor where two single beds are bunked in an original way. There is also a shower outside to rinse your feet full of mud after a long bike ride in the many mountain trails or simply to cool off on hot summer days. The Cabin has also breathtaking views of the sunsets and the illuminated mountains of the Relais ski resort at nightfall during the winter season.

Accommodates a maximum of 4 people.

The Mica

With the Mica, we’re in an almost futuristic universe. During the white season, it blends into the environment by its color but amazes nature curves by its architecture with pure and straight lines. The impression it makes is to come across a machine from space in the middle of the forest! What we love about Mica is its highly modern style mixed with intrigue and ingenuity and its almost complete stripping that allows it to stall and fill the void.

Accommodates a maximum of 4 people.
