Jaco is probably the most popular tourist destination in Costa Rica. As nice it is to be away from the crowds and experience the real local life, sometimes we simply enjoy the commodities and how fun the touristy places are. That’s what brought us to Jaco.
And as much as we like to travel adventurously and backpacker style, we also appreciate the facilities and amenities of a luxury resort. That’s what brought us to Croc’s Casino Resort.
Croc’s Casino Resort is one of the most finest and popular resorts in Jaco, and for good reasons. Let me introduce you to this luxury beachfront resort.
Getting there
Jaco is easily accessible in only a couple of hours from San Jose and Liberia, the two main cities and travel hub in Costa Rica.
To make things even easier, you will find along the road, as you drive closer to Jaco, signs indicating you the way to reach the Resort.
Croc’s Casino Resort is located directly on Jaco’s wide beach, at the North’s end. Its secluded location from Jaco’s city centre makes it the perfect place to savour a luxury family vacation.
The Hotel
Apart from being a convention centre and having condominium units, Croc’s Casino Resort has everything anyone could need and desire for a stress-free family holiday.
The grownups can test their luck at the Resort’s Casino, which is Las Vegas style. You will also find a friendly bar in the main building and the Holy Moly disco club, to dance all night with great music.
The rest of the facilities are all family friendly. Everyone can enjoy the many pool sections, the waterslide and the hot tubs with their soothing and relaxing water jets. Complimentary soft and plush towels are provided each day to all guests.
Why not spend the afternoon laying on a lounge chair, in the pool, while getting fresh drinks and snacks from the friendly staff at the pool bar and grill El Zarpe? All this time, your kids can play in the nearby shallow section with their new friends!
You can also choose to relax at the Hotel’s beach reserved area, or play in Jaco’s famous impressive waves and build a sandcastle by the Pacific Ocean.
When your toes will be all wrinkled or too sandy, head to the Carara Spa & Salon for a well deserved seashell massage, a chocolate body wrap or a gorgeous manicure.
There are also interesting shopping venues on the Resort’s property. You might want to spend your Casino winnings on a brand new outfit for the night, or treat your friends and family back at home with high quality souvenirs.
Of course, all guests can enjoy free Wifi in their room as well as at the Resort’s common area, and a crocodile’s feeding event on every Saturday and Sunday at 1PM.
The Rooms
Jaco’s most popular Resort offers their guest 152 spacious and spotless rooms and suites.
We had the chance to stay in a Deluxe Ocean View room, and I have to admit that the vista from the large patio door was breathtaking, especially at sunset.
Sleeping by the ocean, hearing the crashing waves, on a very comfortable King size bed, was the best way to recharge and rest after a long day in the sun.
For our little girl, we had the option of a rollaway bed and a crib. We chose the latter, and the bed and luxurious bedding were brought to our room even before we came in.
While I was busy getting ready for dinner, Emma-Kate and Clinton had time to enjoy the many Spanish and English speaking channels on the HD flat screen television.
The bathroom, in my opinion, is where we can differentiate the luxury hotels from the rest, and Croc’s Casino Resort’s pampering rooms are splendid. From the rain shower head to the stress relief aromatherapy toiletries, the plush bathrobe, the nature’s inspired design and the deep bath to take care of young children, the bathroom delighted me.
The Food
Again, the Resort has a lot to offer to its guests. There is a cute coffee shop El Cafetal with mouthwatering deserts right next to the Lobby, for a quick caffeine and sugar fix.
Breakfast is savoured at the Parsley and Pepper restaurant, next to the pool area. The morning menu pleases everyone with local cuisine options, healthy choices and of course the American favourites.
For lunch, most of the guests prefer to stay by the pool and enjoy one of the generous meals or snacks from the El Zarpe’s menu. The nachos and guacamole are my favourites, especially when enjoyed laying in the water, working on my tan!
A wide choice of tropical cocktails and drinks are served by the pool as well as at the bar Liquidity, and you also have nice beer options in your room’s minibar.
For dinner, you will definitely want to taste Hugo Avellaneda’s creative cuisine at the Adacus, that offers a Peruvian Mediterranean Fusion fine dining experience.
In Summary
The Croc’s Casino Resort is definitely the hotel to stay in Jaco if you are looking for an easy, stress-free and luxury family vacation. All family members will enjoy the facilities and amenities, to a point where it might even be difficult to leave the Resort to go explore the city bustling centre.
