A Perfect Family Hideaway: Hotel Le Crystal

Hotel Le Crystal

Montreal is a city full of surprises! Quebec’s Metropol has always left me wanting more, until our last trip in May. Of course, the perfect weather had an impact on how wonderful our journey was (because in Quebec, the weather can sometimes be a mess!), but our stay at Hotel Le Crystal is the reason why our weekend was perfect!

As soon as we stepped out of our car, we were overwhelmed with the feeling that we were finally home, after a tiring road trip. We were welcomed with genuine smiles and helpful hands, the service we expect from this 5-star hotel, but without the snobbish of a high-end resort.

Emma-Kate was as excited as us to discover our Deluxe King Suite, and of course to play with the present she received from the generous staff! Let me walk you through our experience at Hotel Le Crystal.

The Suites

Hotel Le Crystal offers 131 suites, each one being a spacious, relaxing and comfortable retreat for couples, friends and families.

More than only a place to sleep, our Crystal suite was a home, away from home. From all the accommodation where we stayed around the world, our Crystal suite is the first one that harbored so many amenities and storage facilities, just like all the other suites. For example, we had two flat-screen televisions, high-speed internet, a total of four wardrobes (yes, four!), drawers in the en-suite bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen with a Nespresso machine, a separate living room and master bedroom, oversized windows with blackout curtains, and an executive desk with an iHome sound system.

Hotel Le Crystal is also kid and pet friendly: the suites are soundproof, safe for toddlers and kids, and even tech dads are more than happy with huge amount of electrical outlets available!

As you can see from the pictures below (I had such a hard time choosing the ones I preferred, that I almost put them all!), our Deluxe King Suite was not only perfect for a city break in Montreal, it would also be ideal for a long stay as a family.

The great convenience of our spacious suite was only outshined by its fine luxurious design. From the custom luxury mattress to the walk-in rain shower and the deep relaxing soaking tub, Hotel Le Crystal has perfected the art of hospitality and generosity.

The Restaurant | La Coupole

Le Crystal’s restaurant, La Coupole, is a lovely and stylish bistro serving an original cuisine cooked with local ingredients. Besides the gorgeous contemporary dining room, La Coupole welcomes guests on their private 2-storey terrace, which is also where they grow fresh herbs for their finger-licking meals.

Both mornings of our stay, we enjoyed our breakfast at La Coupole. We had a wide choice of classics with a twist, to the our pure delight (I am such a morning person!). Children under 5 years old are served a complimentary breakfast of their choice, a smaller portion of anything that’s on the menu. Waffles with fresh yummy berries and authentic maple syrup is without a doubt a sure hit for toddlers, and grownups!

The Staff & Service

I am always anxious to stay at a 5-Star hotel like Le Crystal, since I feel out of place within an upper class environment.

I have to admit that Le Crystal’s staff made sure we felt more than welcome, and that we were part of the family. Their family. Their high class personalised service was unpretentious, perfect yet friendly, impeccable and kind.

The check in and check out was done in a breeze, with authentic smiles and precious help, as were the service at the restaurant and with the pool staff. Le Crystal’s staff is for sure one of the hotel’s best asset.

The Property & Amenities

The Oasis on the 12th floor is Le Crystal’s relaxing haven. Swimming in the huge indoor saltwater pool is surely a bit hit for families, especially since there is a lifeguard protecting our little ones. Two relaxing areas with comfortable couches and a breathtaking view of the city, right by the pool, are the ideal relaxing spot to read or chat. A visit to the Swedish sauna enhances any unwinding day.

Breathing the fresh air has always been my favorite calming therapy, and the outdoor hot tub besides the lazy lounge chairs, on the sundeck with the most stunning view is the perfect retreat to end a tiring day, or awaken after a sleepless night.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have a chance to enjoy Le Crystal’s fitness center, nor getting pampered at the on-site Amerispa. It’s on my list for our next stay at Le Crystal.

The Location

Whatever the purpose of your stay in Montreal, Hotel Le Crystal is located at the best spot: downtown, close to where all the action happens.

Since we wanted to visit Montreal’s main attractions, Le Crystal was the best choice for us: right next to Sainte-Catherine Street, where we could find the best shopping in the city, and the best restaurants.

Le Crystal is also only a street away from the Bell Center, the main venue for all the big shows and hockey games in all Eastern Canada.

Moreover, strolling around Old Montreal and its Old Port, and visiting Notre-Dame-Basilica of Montreal, was a smooth 2km drive. We could have easily walked to get there if only Clinton didn’t have a sprained ankle.

Finally, Le Crystal offers an indoor valet service 24/7, and as you can see in the picture below, the hotel’s deck entrance is covered. We really appreciated it the day we checked-out, because it was pouring rain.

Room Rates

Booking a suite on Hotel Le Crystal‘s website is as easy as 1-2-3. Living the dream and being pampered at this 5-Star hotel is surprisingly affordable.

The Urban Queen Suite is available from $166 per night (219$CAD, excluding taxes and fees). If you are traveling for a special event and want to splurge, the Penthouse Onyx Suite, with its 2 bedrooms, a fireplace and 1278 sq ft terrace is yours from $395 per night (519$CAD, excluding taxes and fees).

Our Overall Opinion

You can imagine now, after reading my review, that we were absolutely delighted with our stay at Hotel Le Crystal, in Montreal.

I usually list the pros and cons of each hotel I review, but it is pretty simple here. After much thinking, I have absolutely no cons, and this is my honest opinion. The location is perfect, the suite is perfect, the staff is perfect. We really felt at home in our comfortable and secure suite. The only thing negative I can say, is that I regret not spending more time at Le Crystal. And they are not even paying me to say that!

Well, the doorknobs could be made of gold… if I really have to find something that could be improved! lol

I definitely recommend Hotel Le Crystal to anyone traveling to Montreal.

We want to thank Hotel Le Crystal for hosting us during our stay in Montreal, Canada. Le Crystal didn’t ask me to write a positive review, but everything I wrote was based on my most truly honest opinion. I swear!
